摘要： A closure assembly and a method of installing the closure assembly are provided. A insertion opening is formed in water resistant barrier covering a rough opening that generally corresponds to a perimeter of the rough opening. A drainage system including a channel assembly is installed on a sill surface of the rough opening. The closure assembly is inserted into the rough opening and temporarily secured to the structure. At least one shim carried on the closure assembly is adjusted to level the closure assembly in the rough opening. A sealing member attached to the closure assembly is engaged with the water resistant barrier. A foam material is delivered into at least a portion of a space between perimeter edge surfaces of the closure assembly and inner surfaces of the rough opening to permanently secure the closure assembly within the rough opening.

摘要： A shim (10) for use in the building industry is formed of first and second wedge elements (12, 14) which are substantially parallel to one another and are of an elongate configuration. Each wedge element (12, 14) is provided with retaining means along one longitudinal side thereof, which take the form of a line of teeth (16, 18). These teeth (16, 18) have the purpose of holding between adjacent teeth a nail or screw which would keep the shim (10) in position. The two wedge elements (12, 14) are coupled together by a coupling element (40) at the thick end of the shim (10). The coupling between the element (40) and the wedge elements (12, 14) is such that the elements (12, 14) act in a unitary manner, substantially as would a shim formed by a single wedge element. The break lines (34, 36) at the top of the wedge elements (12, 14) enable the user to detach the wedge elements (12, 14) from the coupling element (40) so that they can be used separately. This can be useful when a shim of smaller dimensions is required.

摘要： The invention relates to a rolled product having a thickness that can be adjusted by means of separation. The inventive product comprises an alternating stack of sheets and layers of an adhesive material. Each of said sheets has an intrinsic resistance to tearing and each layer of adhesive material joins together two adjacent sheets in the stack using a bond strength that is lower than the tearing resistance of the sheets. In this way, each sheet can be detached from the stack without being torn. According to the invention, each sheet is essentially made from woven fibers and each sheet belonging to each pair of sheets which are adjacent to the same layer of adhesive material is impregnated, throughout the thickness thereof, with a mass of adhesive material which is incorporated in the shared layer of adhesive material.

摘要： According to the present invention, an assembly for shimming a construction member to an opening is provided. The assembly includes a plurality of stacked leaves made primarily of cellulosic material. The leaves have a shape with a uniform thickness, defining a pad presenting front and back surfaces. A strip is located on either or both of the front and back surfaces, the strip being releasable to expose an adhesive for attaching the pad to the construction member. The leaves are secured together by a binding to allow a selected number of the leaves may be manually peeled off the pad to shim the construction member within the opening. The present invention also provides an installation method for a door or window frame, which is fast and accurate especially for a prefabricated door or window unit. Another use is with cabinetry where limited access is possible on the back surface against a finished wall.
