    • An air conditioning installation for a motor vehicle is of the kind comprising an evaporator having an inlet branch and an outlet branch, arranged substantially horizontally and one above the other, with each branch having a radial bead. An expansion chamber is removably but sealingly attached to the branches by an anchor plate which is fastened by a screw so as to bear on the beads so that the latter compress seals against receiving surfaces of the expansion chamber. The anchor plate is in the form of an elongated plate having two through slots which are open at opposite ends of the plate and in which the two branches are supported. Each slot has a semi-circular base portion fitting the circumference of the corresponding branch of the evaporator, and each of these base portions is extended substantially tangentially to define parallel edges of the slot.The parallel edges of the slots in the anchor plate are inclined with respect to the plane that contains the geometrical centers of the semi-circular base portions.

    • A one-piece tube for use as a watertube within a watertube boiler or heat exchanger has a free end section that is formed to have an integral, outward-extending circumferential ring, or flange, a spaced distance from an adjacent end face of the tube. A boiler is provided that has an elongate header and a plurality of separate watertubes each having an intermediate section and opposite end sections. An end section of each watertube is connected to the header. The intermediate section of each watertube has a substantially constant outer diameter along its full length and is closely spaced to adjacent watertubes within the combustion chamber. At least one of the end sections of each watertube has a transition that reduces the diameter of the watertube as it extends from the intermediate section to an outwardly-extending circumferential flange. This arrangement permits close spacing of the connection sites of the watertubes to the header and permits the connection sites to be provided in a linear array.

    • A multi-pass heat exchanger is provided wherein the heat exchanger is comprised of a plurality of stacked heat exchange plates defining a plurality of alternating first and second fluid channels interconnecting respective pairs of manifolds. At least one of the manifolds in the pairs of manifolds is in the form of an annular manifold structure which divides the heat exchanger into at least a first part and a second part thereby forming at least a two-pass flow path. The annular manifold structure is provided by a generally tubular manifold insert having one end embedded within the manifold. A first annular manifold flow passage communicates with one of the sets of fluid channels in the first part of the heat exchanger and a second, central manifold flow passage communicates with the corresponding set of fluid channels in the second part of the heat exchanger.

    • A plurality of first joint tubes 40 connected to a plurality of heat transfer tubes 3 and a plurality of second joint tubes 50 provided at a header 5B are connected to each other at joints J.
