    • This proposed invention provides an efficient, secure cloud based remote control system for remote controlling all electronic or electromagnetically controlled devices, data and photos from anywhere in the world, giving consumers the ability to live global lifestyles while maintaining control of their devices and data from one complete system. Unique to this system is the standard set of remote controls for all electronic and electromagnetically controlled devices, eliminating the need for different remote control systems for different devices. The standard set of remote controls has the capability to become a standard by which all devices can be manufactured in the future to seamlessly connect to all remote control systems containing the same set of standard remote controls, much like Bluetooth has become the wireless standard for cell phones, computers and laptops. This cloud based remote control system is based on the Personal Universe Control System (PUCS) Standard.

    • Methods and apparatus for managing multi-streaming contents and for controlling of changing media players (media renderers) during playback of the multi-streaming contents are disclosed. An exemplary of the method of controlling for changing a media player from a first player to a second player, in a control device is disclosed. The method can include receiving multi-streaming capability from the second player, the multi-streaming capability including information about at least one of multi-streaming contents performable in the second player. The method can also include receiving streaming content information and playing status information from the first player, wherein the playing status information includes playing time information of streaming content being performed at the first player. The method can also include determining streaming content desired to be performed at the second player by comparing the multi-streaming capability of the second player with streaming content information of the first player. The method can also include generating current playing information of the streaming content that is determined to be performed at the second player, based on the playing time information. The method can also include transmitting the current playing information of the streaming content to a media server which is able to communicate with the second player.

    • Techniques are provided for power optimization of home automation system devices (e.g., battery-powered devices). In one example embodiment, the power optimization is based on service states for a room associated with the device. A service state is determined for each of one or more services available in the room. The device is maintained in a low-power inactive state while there are no active services in the room. In response to at least one service being activated, the device transitions from the inactive state to a full-power in-use state. Such transition is performed preemptively, absent any current attempt to use the device by a user or another device. In response to expiration of a timer since a last use of the device or the transition to the in-use state was made and no actual use occurred, the device exits the in-use state and may eventually return to the inactive state.
