    • An open-end spinning device has a spinning rotor with a rotor pot defining a fiber collection groove therein. A rotor shaft is provided having a diameter between 5.5 mm and 9 mm. Pairs of rotatable supporting rings supported on axles define a nip therebetween. The rotor shaft is rotatably supported in the nip. The supporting rings have a diameter between 62 mm and 82 mm. A thrust imparting device imparts an axial thrust to the rotor shaft in the direction opposite the rotor pot. A non-contacting axial bearing is disposed opposite the free end of the rotor shaft for absorbing the axial thrust without contacting the rotor shaft. The axial thrust imparting device generates an axial thrust between 1N and 7N on the rotor shaft. A driving device contacts the rotor shaft for rotatably driving the rotor and has a contact pressure with the rotor shaft from between 8N and 39N.

    • The invention relates to an open-end rotor-spinning device with a rotor shaft which is mounted and driven in the wedge-shaped gap between supporting disks and to the free end of which is assigned an axial bearing. A simplified mounting, which also allows the supporting disks to be removed and exchanged while the machine is in operation, is provided because the rotor shaft (1) is mounted at two bearing points, of which one is formed by supporting disks (2, 3) arranged in the vicinity of the spinning rotor (10) and the second is a bearing (5) which absorbs axial and radial forces and which receives the free end (11) of the rotor shaft (1). An increase in the operating speed of the spinning rotor (10) without an increase in the running speed of the drive means (6) is achieved as a result of a reduction of the diameter of the rotor shaft (1) in the region of the drive means.

    • Friction discs for use in driving of guide rollers for twist tubes in false twist devices for texturing synthetic filaments are described in which the disc comprises a support disc of non-resilient material surrounded by a friction ring of synthetic resilient material that is tapered radially outward to the circumferential surface making contact with the twist tube. This enables the friction discs to be spaced more closely together in the roller and shorter twist tubes to be used. Centrifugal force on the friction ring is also reduced. Higher rotation speed are, therefore, achieved. The ratio of the width of the inner circumferential surface of the friction ring to the width of its surface engaging the twist tube is between 1.5:1 and 3:1. The support disc may be of metal alloy or consist of an inner disc of synthetic plastics material with an outer ring of metal alloy. In each case the metal alloy should have a modulus of elasticity of at least 6500 kp/mm.sup.2 and a tensile strength of at least 25 kp/mm.sup.2.
