摘要： In a sludge treatment installation, a movable carriage is arranged transversely above a work surface of a floor. The movement of the carriage by longitudinal translation over the floor is initiated by a first drive shaft carrying a toothed wheel meshing with a drive chain. A second chain helps to guide the carriage. On the carriage is provided a rotary turning tool which engages in the sludge. Driven in rotation by a second drive shaft independent of the first, it includes pairs of semi-cylindrical paddles fixed substantially symmetrically by one of their edges on either side of a shaft driven by the second drive shaft. The two paddles in each pair of paddles are asymmetrical as a result of having different radii, with a difference at least equal to about 5%. Forced ventilation acts directly on the paddles.

摘要： A mounting structure for use in rotationally supporting a rotatable drum dryer is provided which prevents spauling, flaking and pitting of the dryer tracks, which supports the rotational movement of the dryer, and which prevents axial shifting of the dryer. The mounting structure preferably includes a fixed base, at least a pair of proximal, continuous, annular tracks fixedly secured to the dryer, and a corresponding pair of trunnion rollers rotatably coupled with the base and adapted for contacting the faces of the tracks respectively. The mounting structure also advantageously includes at least one thrust wheel for engaging the side of one of the tracks to prevent axial shifting of the dryer. More particularly, two mounting structures are provided, one for each end of the dryer, and each mounting structure includes two pairs of thrust wheels, one pair engaging the side of each track and opposedly configured to prevent axial shifting of the dryer in either direction.

摘要： The present invention discloses a way of separating and treating the covered surfaces of stacked articles in abutting face-to-face contact. It is particularly applicable to stacked planar articles, those having a relatively small width dimension and at least two substantially parallel surfaces in abutting contact, such as metal beverage container closures. The articles are pushed through a curvilinear path defined by a constant width trackwork of a herein specified design, allowed to pivot on the portions of the articles in proximity to the shorter radius whereby fan-like separation of the portions in proximity to the longer radius occurs, and treating medium, such as heated air, is directed toward the separated portions. Greater uniformity in treatment may be obtained by rotating the articles, at least once, as they traverse the curvilinear path. A preferred embodiment designed to dry the sealant on metal beverage container closures is disclosed herein.

The section comprises one or more sets of paired drying cylinders, each set being driven by a single drive coupled to each cylinder in the set by a gear reduction unit supported by the dryer journals. The gear reduction unit is so constructed and arranged as to accommodate a substantial range of spacings of the set of cylinders which it drives, and also a substantial amount of relative deflection of the journals.

摘要： A system for heating a fluid and an electromagnetic acoustic transducer EMAT system is provided. Both systems have a drive circuit. The amount of heat and the amplitude (and acceleration) of the vibrations is respectively controllable by controlling an input to a terminal of a switch. The heating system comprises a porous graphite foam conductor which is exposed to an electromagnetic field generated by an oscillating circuit. When exposed, the foam conductor conducts induced electric current which heats the same and a fluid in contact with the conductor. The EMAT system comprises at least one magnet configured to generate a static magnetic field, an oscillating circuit and a working element. The working element, when exposed to the static magnetic field and the electromagnetic field produced by the oscillating circuit, vibrates against a load. The vibrations dry the load.
