    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hammer for engaging a spindle driving tooth part with a spindle lock tooth without manually adjusting the rotational position of a spindle by a user.
      SOLUTION: A hand-held powered hammer comprises a hammer housing 2, a spindle 4, a hammering mechanism 24 to generate repetitive impacts on a tool, a spindle lock device 60 having a spindle lock tooth 66, and a set of teeth 43 rotating together with the spindle. The hammer has a first mode in which the spindle is rotatable within the housing, and a second mode in which the set of teeth are engaged with the spindle lock tooth 66 to fix the spindle 4 so as not to be rotated. In addition, a spindle lock device 60 having elastic synchronous elements 72, 74 and 92 to be engaged with the set of teeth before the spindle lock tooth is engaged with the set of teeth when moving from the first mode to the second mode is provided in order to bring the set of teeth with the spindle lock tooth into meshing alignment.
