    • A fluid actuator (1) includes a lock mechanism (20) for releasably locking the actuator against movement, and a lock release lever (45) engageable by a lock piston (50) upon application of system pressure thereto to release the lock mechanism. The lock mechanism includes an axially movable lock member (31) for respectively engaging and disengaging the lock mechanism depending on its position. Attached to the movable lock member is a proximity sensor target (70) which moves with the axially movable lock member toward and away from a proximity switch (72) to provide an electrical signal indicating the locked or unlocked condition of the lock mechanism in accordance with the proximity of the target to the switch. A cover (71) may also be provided for respectively concealing or exposing the target depending on the position of the axially movable lock member to provide a visual indication of the unlocked or locked condition of the lock mechanism.

    • Actuator (1) includes a lock mechanism (20) for locking the actuator against movement in one end position, and a separate lock release assembly (35) exteriorly mounted on the side of the actuator housing (3). The lock release assembly includes a toggle linkage (41) directly engageable with the movable lock part (21) to disengage the lock (20) when a suitable force is applied to the toggle linkage exteriorly of the actuator. A lock spring (30) is located immediately between the movable lock part (21) and actuator piston (4) for resetting the lock as the actuator nears such one end position.
