    • An electronic lock for removably securing a movable item to a structure, the electronic lock comprising first and second complementary cooperating connecting members, each being engageable together in a lockable position; and a securing assembly for securing the first and second connecting members together when engaged in the lockable position, the securing assembly comprising a movable locking member operatively associated to the first connecting member, a locking aperture defined in the second connecting member, the locking aperture being adapted for receiving the movable locking member when the connecting members are engaged together in the lockable position; an actuator operatively coupled to the movable locking member for actuating the movable locking member between an unlocked position enabling disengagement of the first and second connecting members and a locked position wherein the movable locking member engages the locking aperture, and electronic control means for controlling selective actuation of the movable locking member.

    • A locking bicycle rack comprises a plurality of individual bicycle stalls each including a bifurcated swing arm which is pivotally mounted to traverse the stall and engage both wheels and the frame of a bicycle positioned within the stall. The swing arms engage a locking mechanism which includes a latch to maintain the swing arms across the stalls while the stalls are unoccupied. Upon receipt of a predetermined number of coins, a centrally located stall selection mechanism allows selection of an unoccupied stall and operation of the associated latch to release the selected stall. Each locking mechanism includes a guard cap which surrounds, protects and operates an associated lock. Operation of the locks as well as lock securing pins is via cam surfaces within the guard caps. Each lock is operated by a key which is captured within the guard cap while a stall is unoccupied.

    • A bicycle stand or rack is of either open framework or solid construction and has a vertically inclined hub support surface for supporting a bicycle by leaning a projecting hub portion of one wheel against such surface. Portions of the stand provide stops to prevent the wheel from rolling forward and backward from the stall space, from sliding from the hub-supporting surface and from twisting with respect to the bicycle frame. The stand may be made in modular sections for use singly to support one bicycle or in multiples to support several bicycles. The stand may also be provided with a flattened top portion to provide a seat for pedestrians.

    • A security stand is provided which secures a motorcycle and each of its major, valuable components against theft. The stand does not utilize a padlock or chain either of which can be attacked by acid, quickly supercooled and embrittled by a cryogen, or easily cut with an oxyacetylene torch. The stand does utilize an internal locking means such as a dead bolt, which engages the ends of cross bar pipes necessarily containing cementitious material, which pipes are inserted in passages through a pair of angulated arms. The arms extend upwardly from a base, and, preferably both arms and base are also filled with cementitious material. The angulation of the arms is such that they do not provide a horizontal surface against which a hydraulic jacking means may be biased in cooperation with the base, or ground upon which the base is disposed. The cross bar pipes function as locking members when they are inserted through openings between the frame and engine of the motorcycle and locked in the arms. Plural pipes are preferably used, each of which may be locked with a separate locking means. The stand of this invention, as assembled for use, is simple, requiring an internal, concealed key actuated locking means and only three structural components, namely a base, angulated arms and elongated hollow locking members, and preferably each of the components is filled with cementitious material. The filling of cementitious material provides several functions: (a) it provides a reservoir of heat to counter the effect of a cryogen poured on the locking member, (b) it decrepitates under the intense heat of a cutting torch, (c) it dulls a metal-cutting hacksaw blade, and (d) it provides weight to anchor the structural components of the stand.

    • An assembly includes a face plate which is mounted to an exposed wall stud in an enclosure such as a garage. The ends of a U-shaped locking member formed from a bar of hardened steel extend through transverse openings in the face plate and encircle a portion of a bicycle frame. An eye is formed on one end of the locking member and a padlock is placed through the eye to prevent withdrawal of the locking member from the face plate. In a first embodiment of the invention the face plate is mounted to the exposed edge of the wall stud on the interior of the enclosure, and in a second embodiment the face plate is mounted to the outside surface of the wall defined by the wall stud.
