    • A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to manage and use access information in a transitional and/or multigenerational network environment. In some example implementations, an indication associated with the availability of services associated with a second network is received during the performance of procedures associated with a layer of a first network. Based at least in part on the indication associated with the availability of second network services in the location associated with a mobile device, a control signal is generated causing a reconfiguration of a mobile device. Some example embodiments arise in the context of the fifth generation (5G) networks deployed alongside Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks, such that the mobile device can be reconfigured based at least in part on the availability or unavailability of 5G service.

    • A method is provided for traffic lane and traffic signal control identification and traffic flow management. Methods may identify traffic lights controlling lane movements, cataloging the information through analysis of traffic light signal phase and timing, and analyzing traffic movement through an intersection during specific periods of time. In particular, example methods may include identifying each of a plurality of paths through an intersection; identifying states of one or more traffic lights controlling traffic through the intersection; determining vehicle throughput data for the intersection through a predetermined number of cycles of the one or more traffic lights; and matching the vehicle throughput data to each of the plurality of paths of the intersection. The method may optionally include identifying times of movement and times of non-movement of vehicles across the intersection for each of the plurality of paths.

    • A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided in accordance with an example embodiment in order to provide communication of patient sensor data from patient gateways to a network device and, more particularly, to providing for such communication in an energy efficient manner. In the context of a method, the method includes collecting patient sensor data at a first patient gateway, monitoring for a second patient gateway and determining one or more characteristics of each second patient gateway. The method also includes analyzing the one or more characteristics to determine which of the first or second patient gateways should serve as a cellular uplink gateway. In an instance in which a respective second patient gateway is selected, the method causes a representation of the patient sensor data to be provided to the respective second patient gateway for subsequent provision to the network device.
