    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying mechanism for a printer capable of suppressing the cockling of a recording medium and securing the flatness of the recording medium just beneath an ink head by controlling a suction force by properly arranging the position of a suction port relative to a belt to absorb the swelling of the recording medium at a desired position. SOLUTION: This conveying mechanism of a printer includes a rolling roller 560 which is installed on the upstream side of an image forming part in the recording medium conveying direction and pressed against the upper surface of a conveying path and rotates. The rolling roller 560 includes a plurality of unit rollers 560a and 560c which are disposed in the main scanning direction perpendicular to the conveying direction. The width of the unit rollers 560c positioned at the lateral center of the recording medium is wider than that of the unit rollers 560a positioned on both end sides of the recording medium.
