    • The device consists of a rigid pendulum (1) pivoted at its upper end (2) and upon which a ball (5) is retained at its lower end in a holder (6), so that the center of the ball lies on or close to the longitudinal axis of the pendulum. The holder itself is attached to a shoe (3) which pivots about a point (4) on a projection offset from the bottom end of the pendulum, such that the shoe moves in an arc which lies in a vertical plane perpendicular to the vertical plane in which the pendulum swings. Movement of the shoe about this pivot allows the ball holder (6) and thus the ball (5) to move in an approximately radial direction with respect to the pendulum pivot (that is, along the axis of the pendulum when the ball center is on that axis) and the degree of movement of the shoe about its pivot is limited by stops (7a, 7b) provided on the pendulum. The complete pendulum device is supported in a tripod framework or alternative rigid support.

    • A golf club spine finder comprising a shaft holding member which comprises a bottom wall and a vertical member. A gripping member functions to secure the shaft holding member in a substantially upright position. A golf club shaft is then removably inserted through the extended member apertures of the shaft holding member, the golf club shaft comprising a traditional grip end and club head end. An indicator handle comprises at least one aperture further comprising roller bearings therein and a display. The golf club shaft is removably inserted through the indicator handle substantially near the club head end of the golf club shaft. The indicator handle functions to measure the flexure of the golf club shaft at differing angles when depressed downwardly as the golf club shaft is rotated.

    • A sports ball resiliency testing device is disclosed. The device includes a housing that defines a receiving area into which a ball is placed. The receiving area is configured and dimensioned to act upon the contours of the ball. A movable member extends into the receiving area and makes contact with the surface of the ball. The movable member is urged by a spring so as to exert a compressing force on the ball. The urging force of the spring is adjustable so as to provide for various testing ranges. The ball thus exerts a resisting force against the movable member. A value of the resisting force is determined when an equilibrium is reached between the compressing force and the resisting force. This value indicates the playability of the ball.

    • A golf-club and golf-ball testing apparatus, having a crank arm driven by a main drive shaft, drives a club swinging arm through a secondary drive shaft supported by bearings on the end of the crank arm and turned by a planetary gear which meshes with teeth in a fixed gear concentric with the main drive shaft. The club swinging arm is connected to the secondary drive shaft by a short block, and the club is connected to the end of the swinging arm by a gripping member that is caused to rotate from an adjustable initial position so that the shaft is rolled through about 180.degree. during a full swing. The short block is coupled to the secondary drive shaft by resilient material to absorb shocks between the swinging arm and the crank arm.
