摘要： The invention relates to a hand-held computer comprising a peripheral frame which contains all the connections and in which cards are removably plugged. A flat display, mounted on said frame, is topped by a transparent plate which forms a matrix of touch-sensitive areas or points. The matrix is also mounted on the frame. The screen and the plate occupy the maximum of the upper surface of the casing and are electrically connected to the other circuits of the computer by contact with the frame on which they are mounted. The computer may be provided with phoneme recognition means, with hand-writing recognition means or with TV or radio receiving means by insertion of appropriate cards.

摘要： A keyboard, particularly for control of electronics in vehicles, has at least one key mounted in a recess in the keyboard and pivotable about a pivot to press against a shaped portion of a rubber gasket to operate an electrical switch. A display, preferably a multiple character LCD, for labellingthe switch is visible through a transparent member and connected to a p.c.b. by zebra striped members. The display is not obscured by a finger operating the key. The key has a transverse bore in which a compression spring is mounted with balls at the end of the spring to co-operate with stepped generally cylindrical members mounted with their axes perpendicular to the pivot pin and forming detent means to give the key a tactile operation. Preferably the key operates three switches by way of three shaped portions.

The button input apparatus includes: a plurality of lever buttons having a transparent window, in at least a portion of each of the lever buttons, one edge of each of the transparent windows being fixed, and other edges of each of the transparent windows being elastically vertically biased; a switch substrate, which is disposed below the plurality of lever buttons, includes openings respectively corresponding to the transparent windows, and generates a switch signal according to a motion of any of the plurality of lever buttons via a plurality of switches disposed to respectively correspond to elastic parts of the lever buttons; and a display panel, which provides an image in an area corresponding to each of the transparent windows, at least a portion of the display panel being disposed below the plurality of lever buttons. The portable electronic device includes: the button input apparatus; and a button display controller displaying images changed according to a signal of the switch in areas of the display panel respectively corresponding to the transparent windows.
