    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cam-driven hammer mechanism for a power tool. SOLUTION: The cam-driven hammer mechanism 14 has a drive mechanism housing 46 connectable to the housing of a power tool, a first cam member 102, a second cam member 104, and a gear assembly 54 for connecting the first and second cam members on a driving basis to a driveshaft 42 so that they can rotate in opposite directions. The first and second cam members each have at least one cam surface 106, 122, which is oriented at a steep angle to the axis of the tool element and is complementary to and engageable with the other cam surface. The second cam member has an impact surface engaging the tool element to give it an impact. When the cam members are rotated in opposite directions, the cam surfaces engage each other and the second cam member is moved in one axial direction relative to the first cam member. As the counterrotating state of the cam members is continued, the cam surfaces disengage from each other and the second cam member is moved in the opposite axial direction relative to the first cam member to thus give an impact to the tool element.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a keyless blade clamp which is easy to manufacture, simple to use, and whose service life is prolonged. SOLUTION: A reciprocating tool, for example, a reciprocating saw, comprises a housing; a spindle 22 having an end part 50 designed to reciprocatively arrange in the housing and receive a saw blade; a blade clamp mechanism coupled to the spindle 22 and mounting the saw blade on the spindle 22. The blade clamp mechanism comprises an actuating member 38 mounted on the end part 50 of the spindle and movable to the spindle 22 between an engaging position and a non-engaging position; and a lock member 30 movable to the spindle 22 between a lock position workably related to actuating members 38 and 40 and locking the saw blade at the spindle 22 and a non-lock position wherein the saw blade is released. Through movement of the actuating members 38 and 40 from a non-engagement position to the engagement position, the locking member 30 is forcibly moved from the non-lock position to the lock position. Through movement of the actuating members 38 and 40 from the engagement position to then on-engagement position, the lock member 30 is forcibly moved from the lock position to the non-lock position.
