    • A multifunctional monitoring apparatus includes an operating portion, two flexible tubes and two camera modules. The operating portion includes a handle, a controller, a display screen and two connecting ends. The handle provides a grip for users and facilitates the operation of the monitoring apparatus. The controller is connected to the display screen. Each flexible tube is coupled to each connecting end. Each camera module includes a sleeve, a camera and a circuit board. Each camera is installed in each sleeve and connected to each circuit board. Each circuit board is connected to the controller through a transmission line, such that after the controller has received image data captured by the cameras, the image data can be transmitted to the display screen. Users simply need to place the two camera modules at two desired observing locations to observe and compare the environments of two different locations.

    • One embodiment disclosed relates to a method of compiling a computer program. A plurality of modules of source code is received, and intermediate representations corresponding to the modules are generated. A set of data from the intermediate representations is extracted to create an inliner summary for each module. Using the inliner summaries and a globally-sorted working-list based order, an inline analysis phase determines which call sites in the modules are to be inlined by substituting code from a called module. The propagation of summaries may be done elaborately, potentially throughout the call-graph. The goodness of call sites may be computed with a view to comparing them and ordering them in a descending order of goodness. Applicants believe the compile-time effectiveness lies in the ability to work consistently with summary information in the inline analysis phase without having to touch the intermediate representation, while maintaining a high degree of run-time performance by continuously updating the summary information.

    • A scanning device scans both sides of a document. The document is fed between a first image sensor module and a second image sensor module. The second image sensor module is moved with respect to the first image sensor module so that a separation distance between the second image sensor module and the first image sensor module is based on a thickness of the document. A first side of the document is scanned using a first scan line located in the first image sensor module. A second side of the document is scanned using a second scan line located in the second image sensor module. When the document is fed between the first image sensor module and the second image sensor module, the document does not reach the first scan line and the second scan line simultaneously.

The memory module temporarily stores a triangle mesh triangulated from a 2D vector graphics into a binary tree data structure. The triangle mesh processing module adjusts the triangle mesh, or re-performs a triangulation processing to a local region of the loop when a state of a loop of the 2D vector graphics is changed. The triangle mesh processing module includes a level of detail unit, which proportionally adjusts an error threshold according to a zoom condition of the loop, updates an error value of each boundary line when the loop is deformed, and splits a boundary line or merges two neighbouring boundary lines according to the error values of the boundary lines and the error threshold.

    • Image descriptor identifiers are used for content-based search. A plurality of descriptors is determined for an image. The descriptors represent the content of the image at respective interest points identified in the image. The descriptors are mapped to respective descriptor identifiers. The image can thus be represented as a set of descriptor identifiers. A search is performed on an index using the descriptor identifiers as search elements. A method for efficiently searching the inverted index is also provided. Candidate images that include at least a predetermined number of descriptor identifiers that match those of the image are identified. The candidate images are ranked and at least a portion thereof are presented as content-based search results.

    • Methods and computer-readable media for propagating content category information to images stored in a database are described. A seed image that is associated with a known content category is received. A content-based image retrieval is conducted using the seed image as a search query image. A number of search result images are identified. The content category is propagated to the search result images. Metadata associated with the search result images is aggregated and analyzed to identify domains that should also be associated with the content category. Additional images that are associated with the domain are identified and the content category propagated thereto. The process is iterated using the additional images as search query images for the content-based image retrieval.
