    • A honeycomb structure is provided to prevent effectively defects such as cracks from being generated due to thermal stress, by reducing the temperature difference between a center portion and an outer circumferential portion in a honeycomb segment assembly. A honeycomb segment assembly(10) is obtained by bonding a plurality of honeycomb segments(2) on a bonding surface using a bonding material layer in one body. An outer circumference coating layer covers an outer circumferential surface of the honeycomb segment assembly. A plurality of cells are disposed in parallel with one another in a central axis, wherein the cells function as fluid passages. A bonding material layer(12) between honeycomb segments constituting a central portion of the honeycomb segment assembly is thicker than a bonding material layer(9) between honeycomb segments constituting an outer circumferential portion of the honeycomb segment assembly.

In a method for inspecting the laminated assembly, a coating process is performed to coat an exposed part of the insulating substrate with a solution. A drying process is performed to dry the exposed part coated with the solution. A voltage applying process is performed to apply a voltage to the insulating substrate. The voltage is applied to the insulating substrate to measure a withstand voltage of the laminated assembly. The voltage is applied to the insulating substrate to measure an insulating resistance of the laminated assembly.

The first sealing member has a convex portion(6), wherein the convex portion is convex toward the center of the cell in an axial direction on an end portion of the first sealing member.
