By adapting the compression device (120) for reciprocal movement between a first position, wherein the feeding device (130) is allowed to feed thermal insulation material to a position on the support surface (110), and a second position, wherein, during movement from the first position to the second position of the compression device, thermal insulation material (200) fed by the feeding device (130) is compressed, highly compressed blocks of thermal insulation material is obtained that are suitable for use with known shredding devices. A corresponding method is also provided.

The lower punch is connected to a system for uncoupling the members that provide the movement thereof, the system having a brake for limiting the downward travel of the lower punch to keep it in contact with the powder material contained in the die when producing the solid product to avoid the generation of additional compression during the receipt of powder material in the die during the intermediate filling phases for each layer of the product.

摘要： Pressed articles such as brake linings are made by a stack molding apparatus and method. Measured charges of moldable material are sequentially placed on top of a vertical stack between spacer plates and compressed. When a predetermined number of charges have been made and compressed in the stack, a fully compressed article has formed at the bottom of the stack. The lowermost fully compressed charge is then removed while alternately a new charge of moldable material and spacer plate are added to the top of the stack in a continuous sequence.
