摘要： An expandable insulation blanket includes a body of insulation material having a first edge and a second edge wherein the first and second edges are opposite one another. A first slit defines a first hinge point between a first end of the first slit and the first edge, a second hinge point between a second end of the first slit and the second edge and a third hinge point between a third end of the first slit and the first edge. A first hinge body is outlined by the first slit, the first hinge point and the third hinge point. A second slit extends across the first hinge body and defines a fourth hinge point between the second slit and the first slit. When expanded the insulation body includes a substantially triangular shaped opening.

摘要： A solventless node adhesive for use in bonding honeycomb layers together. The node adhesive includes thermoset resin and thermoplastic particles dispersed in the adhesive. The node adhesive is applied to the honeycomb node lines while the thermoplastic particles remain dispersed in the adhesive. The amount of thermoplastic particles in the node adhesive is selected to keep the viscosity of the adhesive between 30 and 150 poise at room temperature. The node adhesive may be applied to the honeycomb nodes using conventional application procedures. The thermoplastic particles are dissolved during heat curing of the thermoset resin to form a thermoplastic toughened node adhesive.

摘要： There is disclosed an apparatus and method for forming a honeycomb core. In particular, the apparatus comprises a compressible array of heater rods that are interleaved with layers of a formable material. Upon compressing the array, the formable material conforms to the shape of the heater rods. Through the application of heat and pressure, the different layers of the formable material are caused to bind to each other. The bound layers thereby form a honeycomb core, which is then removed from the forming apparatus. Also disclosed herein are methods of making honeycomb core using the apparatus, as well as methods of determining precise curing conditions for the making of honeycomb core, by sensing the temperature and pressure transmitted to the formable materials during the curing process.

摘要： The present invention relates to an apparatus and a process for a half-cell structure to make a hexagonal-cell honeycomb core. The structure has a plurality of peaks and valleys and a diagonal surface between each consecutive peak and valley. The apparatus comprises a stack holder for stacking the structure so that as one sheet is placed on top of a stack comprising at least one sheet, the peaks of one sheet contact the peaks of an adjacent sheet. The apparatus also comprises an air blower disposed beneath the top of the stack for reducing the air pressure surrounding the stack to a pressure below the air pressure on the top of the stack, thereby pressing the layers together to form the core.
