The locking member includes a key portion for unlocking the tightening mechanism when the cable is removed from the item. The tightening mechanism includes a spool and a ratchet mechanism. Alternate embodiments for locking and unlocking the ratchet mechanism are disclosed. The tightening mechanism carries sense loops which if compromised actuate an onboard audible alarm. The cables are part of one or more of the sense loops. The device is configured to sound a security gate alarm upon passing through the gate and upon simply reaching a certain distance from the gate. The tightening mechanism includes a housing having a flip-up handle for tightening the ratchet mechanism to tighten the cable.

The lock assembly includes a lock housing adapted for being securely attached to the carriage, and a lock mechanism positioned in the lock housing for being selectively moved between an engaged locked position and a disengaged unlocked position by a user having access means to operate the lock mechanism. An elongate cable is biased into a normally retracted position by a fixed end thereof in the lock housing. The cable is extensible for being extended around the pole. The cable has a head on a free end thereof for engaging with the lock mechanism in the engaged locked position for encircling and securing the lock assembly and the carriage secured thereto to the pole.

The device consists of a cable locking assembly having a retractable cable mounted in a chassis which may be affixed to the bed of a pickup truck or to a structure such as a utility box affixed to the bed of a truck. The chassis which houses the cable lock assembly has a front panel. The front panel provides access to both the free end of the cable, the cable's free end securing sleeve, a cable recoil controlling button and a cable lock. In practice, the chassis is mounted onto the bed of a truck or onto the accessible side of a utility box. A cargo having loop means thereon is placed in the bed of the truck. The free end of the cable is removed from the chassis and is passed through the loop means of the cargo and the free end of the cable, having been threaded through the loop means on the cargo, is returned to the holding sleeve in the chassis. Thus, the device is used to secure an otherwise loose cargo present in the bed of the truck to the truck via a cable means. The device is particularly suited for applications requiring mounting of the locking device where all controls must be accessible through a single front panel.

摘要： A lock for a bicycle or the like comprises a first fixed casing member which is adapted to be secured to the frame member of a bicycle or the like and a second casing member which is movable relative to the first casing member. The first casing member is cup-shaped and is provided with frame mounting means on the outer surface of the cup wall. A raised boss extends from the base of the cup-shaped member. The second casing member is adapted to fit into the first casing member and to engage with the boss in such a manner that the second member is rotatable with respect to the first member. One end of a wire or cable is secured to the second casing member and the wire or cable is wound around the periphery of the second member. The other end of the wire or cable extends through a slot in the side wall of the first casing member. A lock is provided with which the other end of the wire or cable is engageable and a coil spring is arranged to act on the second casing member, to cause it to rotate with inspect to the first casing member to draw the wire or cable into the first casing member by being wound around the periphery of the second member as the latter is rotated by the coil spring. Visual and audible alarm means are desirably provided which are arranged to be activated if the wire or cable is pulled or cut.

In addition, the housing includes a spring-loaded cable with one end exposed which can be pulled from the housing and looped about a stationary object such as a post and then re-inserted through an entrance opening in a side of the housing so that the wheel of the bicycle is not only locked against rotation but the bicycle itself is secured to a stationary object. A single cylinder-tumbler type key operated lock functions to simultaneously release the C-shaped member from its locked position and the one end of the cable from the entrance opening.
