摘要： A connection for establishing a joint between materials having different coefficient of thermal expansion. The connection has a first (12) and second members (20) made from materials that have a different coefficient of thermal expansion. The first member (12) has a cylindrical end (18) with a bore (22) therein and rib (24) located on the peripheral surface of the cylindrical end. The second member (20) has a first diameter section (28) located in the bore (22) of said first member and a second diameter section (30). A sleeve (34, 35) which surrounds a portion of the cylindrical end (18) of the first member and the second diameter section (30) of the second member has a groove (36) for receiving the rib (24) on the first member. Bolts (38, 40) extend through the sleeve into the second diameter section to establish an external compressive force between the sleeve and the rib to hold the first member and the second member in a fixed relationship and from a unitary structure. The first (12) and second members (20) responding to the differences in coefficient of thermal expansion with a reduction in said external compressive force while the first diameter section (28) of the second member expands to create an internal radial force which acts on the portion of the first cylindrical member surrounding the bore to maintain the space relationship of the first and second members with changes in temperature.

摘要： A system for transferring torque between modules in a concentrating solar collector array. A trough collector system includes at least two modules, each module including a reflector having a reflective surface shaped to concentrate incoming radiation onto a linear tube, and a structural lattice attached to the reflector. The modules are constrained to rotate about a common axis. A torque transfer connection directly connects the three-dimensional structural lattices of the two modules at a location removed from the axis of rotation. Torque is thus transmitted between the modules by a force couple acting on the module. Also described are a method of transferring torque between adjacent trough collector modules, and a three-dimensional structural lattice configured for use in the system and method. Mechanisms for accommodating thermal expansion and contraction of the array are described. A drive system is described that imparts torque to a module near an edge of the module.
