摘要： A coffee grinder has a housing that includes a ring burr, a shaft extending through the ring burr, a frustoconical burr, and an interlocking plug. An internal bore of the frustoconical burr has an upper cylindrical surface adjacent the top end, an interlocking portion adjacent the bottom edge, and a tapered side surface. The interlocking plug is shaped to extend through the internal bore of the frustoconical burr, and includes an upper cylindrical portion that fits through the upper cylindrical surface, and a lower portion that includes a sidewall surface which is also tapered such that the sidewall surface interlocks with the side surface of the frustoconical burr.

摘要： The present invention is an improved method to grind coffee where grinding speed can be adjusted either on demand or according to a programmed profile. By lowering the rotational speed of the grinding burrs, the user can insure more consistent particle size for types of coffee or methods of brewing where it is desirable, or dramatically increase speed for greater productivity. By incorporating a load cell, the grinder is able to identify coffee brewing device and deliver portioned ground coffee according to program settings or user input. The device also features an improved hopper design to reduce waste and ease whole bean removal. More importantly is a new method to calibrate the distance between the grinder mills and to automatically adjust grinder particle size so that a given numerical value is consistent for each grinder and every user.

摘要： A self-contained grinding device, for pepper corns and the like, includes only three molded plastic elements and can be attached to a suitable container which stores the material to be ground. The device includes two cylindrical housings which are end connected to form a rotary joint and an elongate gear member which has a grinding head portion which cooperates with a grinding chamber formed in a first housing remote from the container. The gear member has a shaft portion with a bifurcated end which extends from the first housing into a second housing connected to the container. The gear member is fixed to the second housing by a snap-fitting engagement of the bifurcated free end with a transverse bridge arm which is integrally formed with the second housing. The bridge arm is additionally connected to a hopper wall similarly integrally formed with the second housing, which hopper wall feeds the pepper corns from the container to the grinding chamber in the first housing. The second housing includes projections suitable for engaging the external threads of the container such as a jar. The gear member is a grinding element as well as a means for maintaining the three elements of the grinding device together both when connected or disconnected from the storage container. A projection is advantageously provided in the grinding chamber which cooperates with the grinding head portion to ensure effective grinding action of the pepper corns which reach the grinding chamber.
