    • 1396124 Magnetic memory structure KYOTO CERAMIC KK 22 June 1972 [25 June 1971 17 July 1971 19 July 1971] 29230/72 Heading C1J [Also in Division B2] A magnetic memory structure comprises a ceramic substrate (e.g. alumina, zirconia, mullite and spinel ceramics) having formed thereon a polycrystalline and self adherent spinel type ferrite film of formula where x is from - 0À2 to 0À3. Less than 0À2 mol. of Co may be replaced by at least one of Cu, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cd, Mn and Ni. The film may contain at least one of Li 2 O, SiO 2 , TiO 2 , GeO 2 , ZrO 2 , SnO 2 , HfO 2 , V 2 O 5 , Nb 2 O 5 , Ta 2 O 5 , MoO 3 and WO 3 in an amount less than 1% by weight. The film may also contain less than 5% by weight of at least one of B 2 O 3 , Al 2 O 3 , Sc 2 O 3 , Ga 2 O 3 , Y 2 O 3 , In 2 O 3 , (lanthanide) 2 - O 3 , Tl 2 O 3 , As 2 O 3 , Sb 2 O 3 , Bi 2 O 3 and Cr 2 O 3 . The structure may be manufactured by forming on the substrate a coating of an aqueous mixture containing dissolved iron and cobalt salts, heattreating the coated substrate to decompose the salts to their oxides, to sinter the oxide coated substrate and to produce ferrite. In the examples the oxide film is built up by repetition of the sequence of coating, drying and heating. Film compositions in the examples Co include; Co, Zn; Co, Cd; Co, Ba; and Co, Sr ferrites and some of these compositions containing one or more of MoO 3 , ZrO 2 , V 2 O 5 , Nb 2 O 5 , Y 2 O 3 , Sb 2 O 3 , Cr 2 O 3 and SnO 2 .
