摘要： A device for preventing the accidental discharge of a bullet from a firearm, including an attachment adapted to engage the muzzle end of a firearm barrel, a tubular body coaxially attachable with one of its ends to the barrel via the attachment, the bore of the tubular body is provided with an abutment, a stopper fixedly attachable to the other end of the body and having a central bore of a diameter exceeding the calibre of the firearm, an impact disk slidably disposed in the bore of the tubular body, and energy-absorbing and storing element interposed in the bore between the impact disk and the stopper. Upon the discharge of a bullet, the latter pierces the impact disk while transferring some of its kinetic energy to the energy-absorbing and storing element, causing the bullet to disintegrate into small particles escaping through the bore in the stopper.

[Class 99 (ii)] [Also in Group XXI] A plug for closing the end of a tube e.g. a gun-barrel, comprises a central rod 6 provided with a fixed head 9 and a slidable substantially cylindrical body 7, a resilient washer 10 being mounted between the head 9 and member 7. A cap 3 of resilient material with an embedded metal washer 4 is mounted on the rod 6 so as to enclose the end of the tube 14, and a member 1 having a conical face to engage the similar face on the cap 3 also is mounted on the rod 6, a spring 5 being interposed between the cap 3 and member 1. A clamping nut 11 and locknut 12 are provided on oppositely threaded portions of the rod 6 and an end stop 13 also is screwed on the rod. The first action of the clamping nut 11 is to clamp the washer 10 and expand it into gripping contact with the tube, after which further movement of the nut tightens the cap 3. A central bore 15, with a port opening into the space behind the ring 10 is provided in the rod 6 to avoid air resistance.
