    • PURPOSE: An adaptive multiplexing/demultiplexing method is provided to achieve selectively according to specific circumstances by selecting between the plurality of the MUX/DEMUXs, to match a particular circumstance via a trade-off of overhead of the MUX/DEMUXs in H.324 system. CONSTITUTION: A H.324 for PSTN(public switched telephone network) is composed of a MUX/DEMUX and a transcoder. First, media data are coded, and the coded media is then multiplexed by the adaptive MUX/DEMUX and the transcoder to form a protocol data and then transmitted through a channel. A transcoding option is inserted between the H.223 MUX/DEMUX having lower complexity and the H.223/Annex A MUX/DEMUX having high complexity, to define a new multiplexing/demultiplexing method by using the plurality of MUX/DEMUXs having different complexities. The MUX-PDU of the H.223 MUX/DEMUX includes an 8-bit HDLC(high-level data link control) flag(310) used for controlling transmission, an 8-bit header(320) including data information, and a payload(330) including video and audio data.

    • Techniques are described that allow operation according to two or more different communication modes in a single modulation path of a variable radio frequency (RF) modulator within a multi-mode wireless communication device (WCD). The multi-mode WCD may detect a service signal from a base station within a wireless communication system and select a communication mode in which to operate based on the communication mode of the detected service signal. The techniques described herein enable a digital controller within the RF modulator to set parameters of variable components along the single modulation path of the RF modulator based on the selected communication mode. In this way, the single modulation path of the variable RF modulator may be set to process a baseband signal from a user of the WCD according to the communication mode in which the multi-mode WCD is operating.
