    • A reflection type or semi-transparent reflection type liquid crystal device wherein an input panel having a pair of input electrodes spaced with a predetermined gap is integrated with an FSTN type liquid crystal cell. The liquid crystal display device comprises first and second polarizing plates that sandwich the input panel and the liquid crystal cell, and a phase difference plate consisting of an optically anisotropic polymer film is brought into close contact with the surface of the liquid crystal cell. Since the first polarizing plate reduces the quantity of light incident into the input panel, the quantity of light reflected at the boundary between the input panel and the air layer or reflected from the liquid crystal cell surface decreases. Further, because an air layer does not exist between the liquid crystal cell and the phase difference plate, coloration by reflected light passing through only one of them can be prevented, and black-and-white display having high contrast can be accomplished.

    • An integral optical head (1) comprises an actuator (50) whose moving part (5) is fitted with a laser optical system (20) including a semiconductor laser (22) and a light reception device. The moving part (5) is constituted by combining a metallic heat radiator (10) with a heat insulating member (9) made of plastics. The heat radiator is connected thermally to the semiconductor laser, and a coil of the actuator is fixed to this heat radiator through the heat insulating member. Accordingly, heat generated by the semiconductor laser is transferred to the heat radiator and is efficiently dissipated into the external space from the surface of the heat radiator. Because the coil and the laser optical system are thermally isolated, the laser optical system is not heated by the coil during the operation of the actuator. Further, because rigidity of a holder can be improved while avoiding the increase of the weight which will otherwise impede the operation, detrimental resonance at the time of driving of the actuator can be prevented. Accordingly, heat radiation/cooling characteristics of the semiconductor laser can be remarkably improved, and a stable operation and reliability of the apparatus can also be improved.

    • This invention aims at providing a pressure sensor which can be easily made compact and can detect a pulse wave. The pressure sensor (10) comprises pressure-sensitive devices S1 to S4 and a flexible rubber (1). Each of pressure detection positions Q1 to Q4 of each of pressure-sensitive devices S1 to S4 exists on the bottom surface L of the protrusive flexible rubber (1) and on x or y axis which is equidistantly spaced apart by a distance a &cir& _ from the origin. When the flexible rubber (1) is pressed to a portion near an artery, vibration occurs on the exposed surface of the flexible rubber (1) due to blood fluctuation by the artery, that is, by the pulse wave, and this vibration propagates across the elastic rubber (1) as an elastic wave and is detected as a pressure wave by the pressure-sensitive devices S1 to S4. Since the magnitude of the pressure wave is inversely proportional to the square of the propagation distance of the elastic wave inside the flexible rubber (1), the coordinates formed by projecting the pressure wave generation point on the bottom surface L can be calculated from the voltages V1 to V4 by the pressure-sensitive devices S1 to S4 and each distance between the pressure pulse wave generation point and each of detection positions Q1 to Q4. A propagation speed of the pulse wave and the artery position can be determined by calculating coordinates at predetermined time intervals.

    • A logic circuit (20) in a memory card comprises an enabling signal conversion circuit (22) that, in response to an external enabling signal C &cir& "B7E &cir& "B7, produces a timing signal CEX for internal enabling signals M &cir& "B7C &cir& "B7E &cir& "B70 &cir& "B7 to M &cir& "B7C &cir& "B7E &cir& "B77 &cir& "B7 to be applied to a semiconductor memory. Even when an address signal changes at random and a card enabling signal C &cir& "B7E &cir& "B7 repeats high and low states, the timing signal CEX under a continuously active state is delivered. Accordingly, the active state can be maintained without the change of state of the internal enabling signals M &cir& "B7C &cir& "B7E &cir& "B70 &cir& "B7 to M &cir& "B7C &cir& "B7E &cir& "B77 &cir& "B7, so that a penetration current, etc, can be suppressed and a consumed current of the semiconductor memory (20) can be reduced.
