    • Systems and methods generate cross-linking activity in areas of the eye, such as the lamina cribosa and/or peripapillary sclera, to treat glaucoma. An example treatment system includes a cross-linking agent system and an activation system. The cross-linking agent system includes a source for a cross-linking agent formulation and a cross-linking agent delivery device. The delivery device, which is coupled to the source, delivers the cross-linking agent formulation to eye tissue where cross-linking of collagen fibers will strengthen the eye tissue and reduce the effect of IOP on the optic nerve. The activation system delivers an activating element to initiate cross-linking activity in the eye tissue treated with the cross-linking agent formulation. In one embodiment, the cross-linking agent system and the activation system are provided by a catheter system that extends to the target eye tissue for direct delivery of the cross-linking agent formulation and the photoactivating light to the same area.

    • The invention relates to a laser instrument for therapy on the human eye, designed for surgery of the cornea, the sclera, the vitreous body or the crystalline lens, especially suitable for use in immediate succession with other instruments for eye diagnosis or eye therapy, in such a way that during the alternating use of the various instruments, the eye or at least the patient preferably remains in a predetermined position and alignment within one and the same treatment area (2). The invented laser therapy instrument (1) comprises: a beam conducting device with an exit lens system (5) for the therapeutic laser beam, and a device for moving at least part of the beam conducting device, including the exit lens system (5), into the treatment area (5) at the beginning and for moving it out of the treatment area (5) after the use of the laser therapy instrument (1), so that, after the part of the beam conducting device including the exit lens system (5) has been moved out, the treatment area (2) is freely accessible for the use of the other instruments.
