    • To provide a bearing assembly having a temperature sensor built therein, in which the accuracy of detection of the abnormal temperature is increased, the number of component parts is reduced and the productivity can be increased, a rolling bearing assembly 1 includes a sealing member 7 secured to a stationary bearing ring and a temperature sensor 13 is secured to the sealing member 7. The stationary bearing ring is an inner race 2 if the bearing assembly 1 is of an outer race rotating type. The sealing member 7 is made up of a core metal 9 and an elastic member 10 made of a rubber or resin. The temperature sensor 13 is fixed to the core metal 9 of the sealing member 7 either by means of an insert molding of the elastic member 10 or soldering after forming the sealing member 7. The temperature sensor 13 is in the form of a chip-type laminar thermistor.

    • The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring a seal (1, 6, 11, 19) for correct operation, including the tightness of such seal, preferably a seal on a shaft (5) surrounding the latter. At least one sensor (3, 3'; 7, 7'; 16, 16'; 20, 20') is present on the seal (1, 6, 11, 19) or in the seal (1, 6, 11, 19) or within the sealing material of the seal, such sensor directly detecting the mechanical-dynamic stresses or deformations or movements of the seal (1, 6, 11, 19) or of the sealing material (2, 12) of the seal and converts them into corresponding electric signals, which can be picked up on the sensor for their interpretation and processed further. The correct operation including the tightness of the seal (1, 6, 11, 19) can be deduced from the interpreted signal of the sensor.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a seal member in order to keep the seal member in a stable state, and to prevent an antenna function from being impaired.SOLUTION: The seal member 1 for a bearing, particularly, for a rolling bearing includes an IC identifier 2 and an antenna. The antenna is configured as an annular member having a clearance. The seal member 1 comprises: a high-rigidity support member formed of a polyamide-based thermoplastic resin or the like; the IC identifier 2 arranged in the support member; and a sealing member 8 surrounding the outer surface excluding a zone 7 of the support member. The sealing member 8 is formed of a soft elastomer (rubber) and forms a sealing zone 10 with a seal lip 9.
