[Class 52 (v)] A hat stand comprises a base 1 connected to a head 4 forming the hat rest by a standard comprising at least three sections hinged together end to end and hinged to the base and head so that the standard can be collapsed to lie flat upon the base. The intermediate section 6 is of a length equal to the diameter of the base and the other sections 5, 7 are of half this length and successive hinges fold in opposite directions so that the parts in the collapsed position do not project beyond the base. The hinges are stiff to maintain the parts extended or knuckle joints may be used and tightened by wing nuts. The upper face of the base may be provided with two upstanding parallel spaced wooden strips forming a channel to receive the collapsed sections or a diametrical groove may be provided in the base for this purpose.
