The rubber is a halobutyl polymer containing defined amounts of carbon black. The ball gives a diminished rebound off a wall when compared with a traditional golf ball which makes it suitable for use on golf courses of reduced scale.

摘要： A multi-layer golf ball and methods for preparing a portion thereof including a core having at least one core layer (22), a mantle (25) having at least one layer including an amount of reinforcing polymer component and a resilient polymer component disposed concentrically adjacent the core, and at least one cover layer (20) disposed concentrically adjacent the mantle (25), wherein the layer of the mantle (25) is sufficiently rigid to inhibit the resilient polymer component from substantially altering shape prior to crosslinking. The invention also includes an elastomeric composition including a polybutadiene having a high molecular weight average and a predominantly 1,4-cis content, a free-radical initiator, and a reinforcing polymer component having a sufficiently low viscosity at a mixing temperature to permit substantially uniform dispersion of the polymer component with the polybutadiene having a crystalline melting point sufficiently low to permit mixing while avoiding substantial crosslinking.

摘要： The present invention relates to golf balls having a cover and a core and to golf balls having a cover, a core, and an intermediate layer between the cover and the core, where the core or at least one of the intermediate layer or the core is formed from at least one terpolymer of a first monomeric component of an olefinic monomer having from about 2 to about 8 carbon atoms, a second monomeric component of an unsaturated acrylate class ester having from about 2 to about 18 carbon atoms, and a third monomeric component of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of carbon monoxide, anhydride monomers, and monomers having a structure according to formula (I) where R1 is hydrogen or a linear chain or branched chain alkyl group of from about 1 to about 18 carbon atoms, and R2 is selected from the group consisting of linear chain alkyl, branched chain alkyl, carbocyclic, and unsubstituted aryl groups, each containing an epoxy moiety. The intermediate layer and/or core may also comprise a blend of at least one olefinic ionomer and the terpolymer.
