摘要： A Method and System for Parallel Operation and Control of Legacy Computer Clusters is disclosed. Also disclosed is a system that permits the creation of a cluster computer using the legacy operating systems already existing on the computing devices. The system is further be able to seamlessly operate over a standard wide are network, such as the "Internet," as well as over local area networks. The system further permits the individual computers to operate either as part of the cluster, or on local operations, without any need for modification to the other computers involved in the cluster. Still further, the system utilizes standard TCP/IP format for all internodal messaging. Finally, the system maintains performance "grades" for each cluster node, either by node self-grading, or by node reporting, such that the user can select which nodes to participate in a particular parallel application.

摘要： A Cadence-Providing Drum Practice Pad Assembly and Method is disclosed. The preferred assembly combines a practice pad and a cadence generating device in the same body. In other embodiments, the device provides visual prompting to the user on the striking pad. Furthermore, the device of the present invention includes a local repository of cadence programs, as well as the ability to retrieve and play cadence programs stored in remote cadence repositories, such as on a computer network or a portable storage media. In one embodiment the device includes a mounting aperture that is offset from the center of the striking pad so that the pad will have a more realistic feel when mounted to a cymbal stand. Finally, the device may be provided in the form of a conga practice pad.

摘要： An Avocado De-seeder and De-skinner and Method is disclosed. The cutting, deseeding and pulping sequences is conducted by three separate stations along a conveyor system. At a first station, the incoming avocados (including the seeds) are cut into two halves. At a second station, the seed-halves are plucked cleanly from the avocado half without damaging the pulp. At a third station, the skin is removed cleanly from the pulp and discarded. In order to insure that the skin is easily removed and that the pulp is left undamaged, the skin side of the (seeded) avocado halves is heated enough to release the skin, but not so much as to damage the pulp. This heating step is conducted as the de-seeded avocado halves are being conveyed from the de-seeder to the de-skinner.

摘要： A joint exhibits high tensile strength. The joint includes a solid rod having a slit or opening into which a wedge is inserted. The rod and wedge are inserted into a fitting. The internal surface of the fitting has a contour which continuously and nonlinearly varies with distance along the fitting. The wedge has a dimension having a similar contour. The shape of the contour can be described by a polynomial of order two or higher. The joint can be used to construct a sucker rod for an oil well, or it can be used in other applications. The joint can support high tensile loads, over long distances, while occupying a very narrow tubing bore.
