Vehicle lamps.-In a motor head-light of the type in which the electric leads are passed through the lamp stand or supporting arm and between the casing and the reflector to a bulb holder adjustable axially from the exterior of the casing, a split annulus 13 surrounds the bulb holder 6 and is provided with two coned faces, the inner of which co-operates with a coned face on the collar 14 set in the back of the casing 1 and the outer one co-operating with an internally-coned face on an annulus 7 which screws into the collar 14. An ebonite disc 9 rests against a shoulder in the holder 6 and is secured in position by a screw cap 10 having a flange to prevent the separation of the annulus 7 from the lamp.

Lantern doors and door-fittings.-In a vehicle lamp of the type in which the front carrying the glass is detachably connected to arms combined with the lamp-body, the arms having a hook connection with the lamp front and being actuated to draw the latter tight to the body, the arms are actuated by a contractible annular clamp of V- or equivalent-shaped section engaging a V-shaped groove encircling the lamp-holder. The arms hare secured to the lamp-holder b which has a projection b forming the V-shaped groove f in which fits the annular clamp g which is contracted by a screw. A spring j encircles the holder b and the arms h have hook-shaped ends h which are passed into slots in the front i and rotated so that the slots h engage the front i. The ends h' of the arms h pass through an annular member k by which the reflector l is permanently secured to the lamp-body.

Vehicular and like lanterns ; lanterns, handles for ; lantern doors and door fittings.-In motorvehicle and like lamps in which the body 1 is cast in one with the hood 5 and lugs 2 for engagement with the lamp bracket, integrally cast lugs 3 are also provided for the attachment of a handle 4. In the form shown, the lugs 3 are associated with integrally cast members 9, 12 serving for the attachment of a cast lantern front 6. This is hinged by means of a pin 10 passing through the member 9 and through integral lugs 8 on the front, and is secured at the opposite side by means of a pin 21 pivoted in integral lugs 11 on the lantern front and having a stem which passes through a gap in the extension 12 of the lug 3 and is secured by a wing-nut 22. An acetylene-generator is housed in a transverse cylindrical part 13 formed integral with the casing 1, and the closure 14 at one end is a casting having an integral lug 15 which, with integral lugs 16 on the part 13, forms a hinge, the hinge-pin 17 being inserted. The closure 14 may be retained by means of a transverse bar 26, Fig. 3, operated by means of a stem 18. The bar passes through gaps 29 in a flange on the end of the part 13, and when rotated engages in a groove 27 and is held by a nut 19. The back of the lamp may be formed by a cast member 24 secured by screws or other means, and the glass 7 may be secured in the lantern front 6 in the manner described in Specification 7561/15, [Class 75 (ii), Lamp chimneys &c.].
