摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting mechanism cutting a material, namely a tape for a printer with a small force by relatively rotationally attaching a cutting blade and an anvil cooperated together for cutting the material and by cutting the material along the relative rotational movement. SOLUTION: A printer is provided with a print head 10, and a printing mechanism constituted of a platen 12 cooperated therewith and printing an image receiving tape T. In this case, the rotating anvil 38 of the cutting mechanism is rotated and a cutter body operating pin 48 is moved along the track of the cutter body 20 so that a return spring 8 is extended and stretched. The cutter body 20 of the cutting mechanism is moved in one direction so that the whole layer of the image receiving tape T is cut in a first cutting position by using the blade 22. After that, a tab cut blade 32 held by the blade holder of the cutting mechanism is operated in a second cutting position C2 so that a tab cut is formed in the upper layer of the image receiving tape T.

CONSTITUTION: This printing apparatus is equipped with a cassette housing recess 13 for housing a cassette 7 holding an image transferring ribbon 12 therein, a driving member for driving the wind-up spool 23 of the cassette 7 and a printing mechanism having a printing head 16 and a platen 8, both of which cooperate with each other. When the cassette 7 locates in the cassette housing recess, the printing head and the platen are arranged so as to extend a tape between the printing head and the platen. The printing head 16 is movable between the its operative position and its inoperative position. In response to the movement of the printing head from its operative position to its inoperative position, a driving means automatically rotates the driving member. Thus, the wind-p stool 23 of the cassette 7 inserted in the printing apparatus rotates, resulting a tensing the tape so as to remove the looping or sagging of the tape. Accordingly, the insertion or removal of the cassette becomes easy.

The further movement of the tape 4 is prevented by the microprocessor while a different color ribbon 12 is overlapped on the tape 4. Then the movement of the tape 4 is reopened by a step motor 7 based on the command of the microprocessor, and a following section is printed in a different color.
