[Class 65 (i)] A combined stay and catch device for a door b comprises a bar member j articulately connected at one end to the door and adapted slidably to engage a fixed guide member e, the said members being so formed as to limit the opening movement of the door and automatically to interlock when the latter is moved to the fully-closed. position, and means for withholding the said members from so interlocking, at the will of the operator. The bar is pivoted at h to the door of a serving hatch and carries at its free end a stop adapted to engage the bracket e secured to the side of the hatchway, the bar passing through a slot formed in the bracket. A notch q in the bar engages the lower edge of the slot when the door is closed. Alternatively, a recess in a slot r formed in the bar may be engaged with a stud m carried on the bracket, the bar being capable of lateral movement on the pivot against a spring washer carried thereon. The stud may be disengaged from the recess by applying outward pressure to the door, the bar, cranked at the point o, falling clear of the stud when the latter passes the cranked part. In a modification, the bar is extended through the door to enable the catch to be released from the outside.
