    • A hinge for an orthopedic brace has two rotation plates, a pivotal connector connecting the rotation plates, a rotation limiting mechanism, and a rotation locking mechanism. The rotation limiting mechanism includes a rotation limiting face formed in one of the rotation plates and a rotation limiting assembly which has a stop face engageable with the rotation limiting face upon rotation of the rotation plates in a given direction to limit further rotation in that direction. The rotation locking mechanism includes a series of lock notches formed in one of the rotation plates and a rotation lock pin positionable within one of the lock notches to lock the rotation plates in a fixed position.

    • A continuous passive motion device is provided having specific application to rehabilitative treatment of the elbow or shoulder. The device includes a motorized winch displacable in a first or second direction, a cord suspended from the winch by a variable extension length, which increases when the winch is displaced in the first direction and decreases when the winch is displaced in the second direction, and an arm harness associated with the cord. An arm of a patient is suspended from a suspension point on the cord and the motorized winch is activated to alternately displace the winch in the first and second directions, thereby providing a plurality of repetitive treatment cycles. Each treatment cycle moves the suspension point and correspondingly the elbow or shoulder from a lower treatment limit to an upper treatment limit and back to the lower treatment limit.

    • A knee brace is provided having upper and lower arms and a hinge assembly positionable about the knee to one side of the patella. The hinge assembly has a hinge pivot and a tension strap lever. The upper and lower arms and tension strap lever are each rotatable about the hinge pivot. A compression member is positioned in engagement with the knee on the opposite side of the patella from the hinge assembly and a tension strap engages the compression member and is connected to the tension strap lever. The tension strap applies a tension force to the compression member which increases when the upper and lower arms and tension strap lever rotationally transition from a flexion position to an extension position and decreases when the upper and lower arms and tension strap lever rotationally transition from the extension position to the flexion position.

    • A strap connector assembly for an orthopedic brace has a retention post, which has a post cross-sectional dimension, and a chamber, which has a retention aperture. The retention aperture is bounded at least in part by a flexible segment and has an aperture cross-sectional dimension less than the post cross-sectional dimension when the flexible segment is unstressed. However, the aperture cross-sectional dimension is substantially equal to the post cross-sectional dimension when the flexible segment is stressed by the retention post. The retention aperture, flexible segment and retention post cooperatively enable a user to selectively connect or disconnect a strap to or from the orthopedic brace while maintaining the adjustment of the strap.

    • A portable, patient-controlled medication delivery system includes an infusion pump and a catheter assembly. The infusion pump retains a treatment fluid and provides a drive mechanism for delivering the treatment fluid to a patient via the catheter assembly. The infusion pump includes a fluid reservoir, a dosage chamber, a displacement piston displacable within the dosage chamber, a charge flowpath providing fluid communication between the fluid reservoir and the dosage chamber, and a passive flow restrictor positioned in the charge flowpath. An elastic member is also positioned in the infusion pump to exert an elastic displacement force on the displacement piston, which expands the dosage chamber and draws the treatment fluid from the fluid reservoir into the dosage chamber at a charge flow rate controlled by the passive flow restrictor. When an opposing manual displacement force is exerted on the displacement piston, the dosage chamber contracts and discharges the treatment fluid from the dosage chamber to the treatment site.
