    • The subject disclosure provides systems and methods for recommending optimal consumption of a variety of resources that may be consumed by a consumer. A recommendation provided by the system may be based upon resource-consumption statistics gathered by a plurality of sensors, consumer's resource-consumption behavior, consumer-defined criteria, resource availability, and a cost of consumption. The recommendation may include a recommendation on how the consumer may lower resource consumption costs. The recommendation may further include optimal consumption considering consumption trends of a plurality of consumers living in a geographical proximity. The recommendation may include optimal usage of a consumer's vehicle such that the vehicle may consume the least amount of energy. The recommendation may further include offer(s) of credit/incentives by resource providers to consumers in exchange for less consumption of resource, alternative consumption of resources, and any combination thereof.

    • Information received from a first responder on the scene of an emergency event is automatically distributed and managed by an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) via various combinations of emails, databases, Internet Protocol (IP) networks, speech to text converters, and distribution systems. In one example embodiment, information is provided by a first responder via an IP network. The first responder has access to various services such as, instant messaging, Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC), Presence information, location based services, wireless priority services, multimedia priority services, voice of IP (VoIP), or a combination thereof. The information provided by the first responder, via the IP network is stored in an EOC database for access by various EOC related entities. In another example embodiment, information provided by a first responder is converted from speech to text, and the text is stored in an EOC database for access by various EOC related entities.

    • A mobile device automatically is configured to the emergency alert system (EAS) channel utilized by the cellular site from which the mobile device registers with a network. In an example configuration, an EAS server provides a mobile switching center (MSC) configuration information regarding the emergency alert channels to be used for the cellular sites supported by the MSC. When the mobile device registers via a cellular site supported by the MSC, the designated channel to be used for EAS messages is sent to the mobile device as part of the registration process. The mobile device assigns an internal channel to the designated channel. In another example configuration, the mobile device is preconfigured with a table listing all possible EAS channels, and the MSC provides, during the registration process, a pointer to the appropriate portion of the table.

    • A communications device determines the appropriate method for providing a message depending upon the content of the message without prompting or querying a user of the device. When the user selects a name as the recipient of the created message, the mobile device determines delivery options. If the message contains text only and if the user enters/selects a mobile device phone number, the message is sent via SMS. If the message contains multimedia and if the user enters or selects a mobile device phone number, the message is sent via MMS. If the message is text only or multimedia, and if the user enters or selects an email address, the message is sent via email. In various implementations, the message is delivery via determined delivery options including a lowest cost delivery option, a subscriber preferred delivery option, or a delivery options as indicated by an intended recipient's presence information.

    • Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed which relate to enabling wireless communication between an information kiosk and a mobile device operated by a user. The user may operate the mobile device to request information from the kiosk, with the kiosk authenticating the user before displaying information. The authentication may involve a biometric identifier. The kiosk may provide information to the user via the display on the kiosk or on the mobile device. The profile may be regularly updated with the user's past queries, and other biographical information. Consequently, the user may be able to receive information pertinent to their needs without having to come into physical contact with the kiosk. Kiosks may be installed at public transit terminals such as bus stops, shopping centers or malls, attractions such as amusement parks, museums, etc.
