    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-base noncorrective lens which minimizes optical distortion of the whole visual field while cutting off light over the entire visual field, and is used for two-lens spectacles of such a type that a rake and a wrap are exhibited. SOLUTION: Disclosed is an optically corrected lens for nonprescription eyeglasses. The anterior surface 28 of a lens 12 or 14 lies on a portion of a first sphere having a first center. The posterior surface 30 of the lens 12 or 14 lies on a portion of the surface of a second sphere having a second center. The first and second centers are offset from one another to provide a tapered lens. The lens 12 or 14 is oriented on the head of the wearer by a frame that maintains the lens in a position such that a line drawn through the first and second centers is maintained substantially in parallel to the normal sight line 27 of the wearer. Lenses are thus provided which have improved optics when mounted in an as-worn orientation such that they exhibit both vertical "rake" and horizontal "wrap". COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

Further, the anterior module can be rigid for maintaining the lens in an optically desirable orientation. Furthermore, a goggle 140 includes an interchangeable lens mechanism to facilitate interchanging of lenses in the goggle.

    • PURPOSE: To simultaneously provide a low profile, proper ventilation and sufficient space between eyes and a lens by bending an integrated lens along two substantially longitudinal axes and forming it in a specified shape having an almost ring surface shape. CONSTITUTION: The lens 11 is provided with the first circular cross-sectional shape in a horizontal direction from a first ear handle to the second ear handle and the circular length L of the lens 11 is within a range from about 5-1/2 inches (14.0cm) to about seven inches (17.8cm) so as to have a designated radius R. The lens 11 is also provided with the second circular cross-section shape in the longitudinal direction and the radius designated to be R2 , R1 is less than R2 and R1 adds a means for placing the lens 11 on the lens receiving part of a frame 20 within the range of about two inches (5.1cm) to four inches (10.2cm). Thus, distance from the eyes to the lens is made to be max. and, in the meantime, a superior aerodynamic characteristic is held.

    • PURPOSE: To provide an ophthalmic lens which has a specific cross-section in the form of circular arc, has excellent optical characteristics and peripheral light shut-off performance, and which permits, at the same time, a proper ventilation around the face of a person who puts on the glasses. CONSTITUTION: The lens concerned 12 embodied in a single piece structure having an upper edge and a lower edge, wherein the lower edge has an opening 130 in a part with which the nose of a spectacles user comes into contact for placing of the lens, and the opening has a top end, and the lower edge of the lens has a bottom member while the upper edge has a top member. The distance d1 between the top of the part touched by the nose and the upper edge top member should range from 1.9 to 3.8cm, while the distance d2 between the upper edge top member and the lower edge bottom member should range from 5.1 to 7cm, and these dimensional shut off beams of light optimally and also admit sufficient ventilation around the face of the user. The lens 12 has a cross- section in the form of a circular arc, whose length L ranges from 14 to 17.8cm. This also has an inner concave surface and outer convex surface and has a thickness between them, and the radius R1 from the axis of a cylinder 24 to the circular arc deciding the inner concave surface ranges form 6.4 to 11.4cm.
