    • An agrochemical composition is provided,the composition comprising iprodione and at least one macrolide compound selected from compounds of the general formula(I) in which R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 6 independently represent hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclyl group;and substructures A and B independently denote that the two carbon atoms to which each of these substructures is bonded are linked by a single bond,by a double bond or by a single bond and an epoxy bridge; and compounds of the general formula(II) in which R 7 is hydrogen; R 8 is hydrogen or a group of the general formula(III) in which R 9 is OH or CH 3 -CO-NH–; the group of formula (IV) or the group of formula(V): D is a single bond,in which case both R 10 and R 11 are hydrogen or are combined to form the group=N-O-CH 3 , or D is a double bond and R 10 and R 11 are combined to represent hydrogen; R 12 is an alkyl, alkenyl or phenyl group; and R 13 is OH, R 14 is hydrogen or R 13 and R 14 are combined to form the group=N-OH. The composition finds use in the control of pests at a locus,in particular nematodes.

    • A process for preparing clomazone is provided,the process comprising reacting 4,4-dimethyl-3-isoxazolidinone with 2-chlorobenzyl chloride in an aqueous medium in the presence of a base, in particular an alkali metal hydroxide. A method for preparing clomazone is also disclosed, the method comprising (a) crystallizing clomazone from solution in an organic solvent; and (b) isolating the resulting crystals. N-benzene is a particularly suitable solvent. Further, there is provided Form I crystalline 2-[(2-chlorophenyl)methyl]-4,4-dimethyl-3-isoxazolidinone (clomazone), wherein the polymorph Form I is characterized by at least one of the following properties : (i) an X-ray powder diffraction pattern having characteristic peaks expressed in degrees 2θ(+/-0.20° θ) at one or more of the following positions : about 10.63, 16.07, 18.08, 19.11, 19.34, 21.20, 24.78 and 28.80; and (ii) an infrared (IR) spectrum having a characteristic peak : at about 2967 and 2870 cm -1 .
