    • A water oxygenating device comprising an upright tubular housing (10) mounted on a base (13) close to the bottom of a body of water and having upper and lower ends open to enable water to flow upwardly therethrough. Air lift nozzles (18) and fine bubble dispersion air supply annular pipes (15 and 16) serve to generate a flow of bubbles upwardly through the tubular housing, the fine dispersion of air bubbles effecting enhanced oxygen transfer into the water throughout passage around a pair of shallow helical flights (22, 23) having an angle of approximately 10° to the horizontal. The fine bubble air diffusion commences outside of the tubuiar housing (10) to provide a gentle mixing action and thus maximum oxygen transfer within the tube where the water and oxygen interface is retained for as long as possible.

    • 1382844 Valves TEXSTEAM CORP 2 May 1972 [5 May 1971] 20256/72 Heading F2V A flow-controlling regulator, comprises a cylindrical plug 25 of flexible material which is disposed between two end plates 18 and 26, plate 18 being anchored by ribs 17. Plate 26 is engaged by a generally U-shaped piston 40 which is movable over a fixed core member 34, movement of the piston being consequent to the application of fluid pressure to a piston chamber 37 via passages 24, 32, and 33. A movement of piston 40 to the right, as seen in the drawing, causes lateral expansion of the plug 25 which expansion is restricted at the downstream end of the plug by the provision of a plurality of contoured ribs 51 which extend between two retainer rings 52 and 56. Thus, even with a high pressure differential across the regulator and a flow in the direction of the arrow shown, the plug expanded portion 55 is constrained against displacement in the general direction of the flowing fluid. A sleeve-like seat member 22 serves to co-operate with the plug 25 to define therebetween the fluid flow path from the regulator inlet section 11 to the outlet section 14.
