    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component concentration measuring apparatus using a photoacoustic method which measures the concentration of a subject component stably by keeping the distance between surfaces of a biological subject constant in order to avoid problems, such as differences in standing waves generated within a biological subject according to the distances between the surfaces of the biological subject and differences in sonic waves generated within the biological subject according to the distances between the surfaces of the biological subject.
      SOLUTION: The component concentration measuring apparatus 310 comprises a pair of holding means 311a and 311b for sandwiching and holding a biological subject 110 in order to keep the distance between surfaces of the biological subject 110 constant and a distance measuring means 312 for measuring the distance between the holding means 311a and 311b. Because the apparatus comprises a means to keep the distance between the surfaces of the biological subject constant 110, the apparatus can measure the concentration of an object component stably.

      SOLUTION: The component concentration measuring apparatus 235 related to this invention is characterized by an unnecessary mode eliminating means 237 for eliminating an unnecessary mode of an optical fiber 236 for guiding light to an irradiation head 112. By eliminating the unnecessary mode of the optical fiber 236, the intensity of the light emitted from the irradiation head 112 can be stabilized even if the bending state of the optical fiber 236 varies.
