    • A capo for use with a stringed instrument having a plurality of strings a neck comprising a fingerboard and a back comprises a string-engaging arm, a clamping arm, and a pivotal connection to pivotally interconnect a string-engaging arm and clamping arm. The string-engaging arm adapted to in use extend across the fingerboard above the strings and in use press against the strings. The clamping arm is adapted to, in use, extend across engage the back of the neck. The pivotal connection is disposed, in generally towards one side of the neck and at a position behind the fingerboard inboard of a side edge of the fingerboard. This arrangement and location of the pivotal connection reduces the forces required in use to operate the capo.

    • A capo (10) for use with a stringed instrument comprises a top arm (12), lower arm (16) and a lever arm (24). The top arm (12) is adapted to extend across a fingerboard of the instrument above the strings (4), and a side arm is connected and extending at an angle to the top arm and arranged to extend generally laterally of the neck (2) of the instrument. The lower arm (18) has one end pivotally attached to the side arm (16) at a lower arm pivot (20) and is adapted to abut against the back of the neck of the instrument when in a closed position. The lever arm has one end pivotally attached to the side arm (16) at a pivot (26) spaced from the lower arm pivot (20). The capo further includes an adjuster mechanism (28, 334) that extends and projects an adjustable amount from the lever arm (24) and has an end tip (32) which bears against the lower arm (24).

    • A capo for use with a stringed instrument that includes a first arm 11 configured to, in use, extend laterally across a finger board and strings. A second arm is configured to, in use, abut against the back of a neck of the instrument to, in cooperation with the first arm, provide a clamping force over the strings. The first arm includes an adjustable tensioning means, e.g. a truss rod 14 or band, acting in a lengthwise direction, such that a contacting face can adapt to the curvature of the finger board. Adjustment is effected by a knob 15 or like device which tensions the truss rod or cable.
