摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide rigid engineering thermoplastic polyurethane polymers.SOLUTION: The instant invention is a rigid thermoplastic polyurethane made by reacting a diisocyanate with a diol, wherein the diisocyanate comprises a mixture of positional and geometric isomers of bis(isocyanatomethyl) cyclohexane. In the preferred case, the diol comprises a diol selected from the group consisting of one or more positional and geometric isomers of cyclohexanedimethanol, 1,6-hexanediol and mixtures thereof. In another embodiment, the instant invention is an object made from such rigid thermoplastic polyurethane.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymeric urethane dispersant with at least one reactive carbon-carbon double bond on average per molecule.SOLUTION: The polymeric urethane dispersants with solubilizing polymer chains and with reactive carbon-carbon double bonds are described. The reactive double bonds facilitate molecular weight build-up of the dispersant on dispersed particles (enhancing colloidal stability) or enhance the ability of the dispersants to be crosslinked into a matrix material. In the first embodiment, once the dispersion of particles has been made, the dispersants may be crosslinked with a suitable crosslinking agent (e.g. polyamine or via free radicals) to immobilize them onto the particle surface.

The hydrocolloids are used as a gelling and thickening agent for aqueous systems, for instance, in the area of food, fodder, cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions. Typical hydrocolloids are selected from tamarid, fenugreek, cassia, locust bean, tara and guar. The hydrocolloids obtained by this method are colorless, odorless and tasteless and exhibit improved functional properties such as viscosity properties as well as gel strength and break strength.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-crosslinked, linear acrylic copolymer that mitigates the ocular and dermal irritation typically associated with surfactant containing compositions without substantially affecting the rheological properties of such surfactant containing compositions.SOLUTION: A method for increasing the efficacy of hydrophobically modified (meth)acrylic based polymers to increase the critical micelle concentration of a surfactant composition by attenuating the degree of neutralization (DN) of the polymer is disclosed. Exemplary embodiments in accordance with the present invention are directed to a non-crosslinked, linear acrylic copolymer that mitigates the ocular and dermal irritation typically associated with surfactant containing compositions without substantially affecting the rheological properties of such surfactant containing compositions. The non-crosslinked, linear polymers are low molecular weight polymers having a number average molecular weight (M) of 100,000 or less as measured by gel permeation chromatography calibrated with a poly(methyl methacrylate) standard.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide effective non-halogenated flame retardant combinations that impart flame retardant characteristics to thermoplastic polyurethane compositions while not impairing mechanical strength and processability.SOLUTION: The flame retardant thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) compositions have a flame retardant package comprising an organo-phosphinate component, an organo-phosphate component, and a polyhydric alcohol. The flame retardant components may be present in an amount from about 5 to about 40 wt.% of a phosphinate compound, from about 5 to about 20 wt.% of a phosphate compound, and from about 0.1 to about 15 wt.% of a polyhydric alcohol, based on the total weight of the TPU composition. Processes are disclosed to make the TPU compositions and to make wire and cable constructions employing the TPU compositions as the jacket of the wire and cable constructions. The TPU compositions exhibit excellent flame retardant capabilities as measured by Limited Oxygen Index testing and/or UL 94 Vertical Burn tests.
