      SOLUTION: A control section 10 stores the character information 62 included in video data received from a video input section 20 to a storage section 60. An acceleration sensor 260 provided in a display unit 250 senses an acceleration in triaxial directions caused by the movement of the head of the user. A display mode discrimination section 50 determines a display mode (display position and display size) of the character information 62 on the basis of a direction of the acceleration when the acceleration sensed by the acceleration sensor 260 is a prescribed value or over. When the display mode discrimination section 50 instructs the control section 10 to change the determined display mode, the control section 10 changes the display mode of the character information 62 according to the instruction and displays the resulting information on a display panel 256.
