Evacuation of the beam duct and reaction chamber is made by an evacuating means 9 connected with the beam duct. With the incident hole an orifice pipe 10 is connected so that the charged particle beam is put incident through the pipe and also a differential pressure is generated between the reaction chamber and beam duct by the evacuating resistance of the pipe, wherein the degree of vacuum in the chamber is set lower than that in the beam duct. It may also be accepted that a differentially evacuating mechanism is introduced using a plurality of orifice plates, in lieu of the mentioned orifice pipe 10.
