    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce non-metallic inclusions in a cast slab by forming a high bottom part having a specific length in a tundish to the height at higher by a specific size from the bottom surface and at lower by a specific size from molten steel surface. SOLUTION: In the tundish 8 for continuously casting the steel, the molten steel depth (h) from the bottom surface 1 of the tundish to the molten steel surface 2 is made to >700mm to operate the continuous casting. Therein, on the bottom surface 1 of the tundish 2 between the molten steel pouring part 3 of a ladle on a molten steel flowing-out part 4 into a mold, the high bottom part 10 having >=500mm length L is arranged. The high bottom part 10 is higher by >=200mm at the upper surface from the bottom surface 1 of the tundish, i.e., H is made to >=200mm and the upper surface thereof is made to lower by >=500mm from the molten steel surface 2 in the tundish. Therefore, the height of (h-H) is made to >=500mm. By this constitution, the non-metallic inclusion in the cast slab before and after changing the ladles in a sequential continuous casting, is reduced and further, the component of the cast slab can quickly be changed over.

When hand matching is performed, the third wheel 13 is magnetically attracted by a permanent magnet 35 to release the meshing of a pinion 15 with the gear 19 of a center wheel 18. Since the third wheel 13 is magnetically attracted by the permanent magnet 35 to be held to an inclined state, a slot 16 for supporting the upper shaft part 31 of the third wheel 13 in a movable manner may be provided on a main plate 1 and it is unnecessary to provide a lever 37 and, therefore, the structure of the lever 37 becomes simple.
