    • PURPOSE: A composition that is made by adding a novel metal inactivator of a specific oxyquinoline derivative to a mineral oil or synthetic oil of a specific viscosity, thus being suitably used as an additive for lubricants such as turbine oil, operation oil or gear oil.
      CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is obtained by adding (A) 0.001W 10.0wt% of a metal inactivator of oxyquinoline derivative to a mineral oil and/or synthetic oil of 10W10,000cst dynamic viscosity at 40°C and of more than 80 viscosity index. The compound of formula I is obtained, preferably by the Mannich reaction between 8-hydroxyamine, a secondary amine satisfying the conditions of R
      1 and R
      2 and formaldehyde and the compound of formula II, by the Mannich reaction between 8-hydroxyquinoline, a primary amine satisfying the condition of R
      3 and formaldehyde.
