In the pressing area 41, the endless belt 11 and pressure rotor 21 conveys a recording medium P while sandwiching it between them. A pressing member 31 is fixed to a support member 51, and an endless belt 11 slides over the pressing member 31. A fixing area 42 is made narrower than the pressing area 41 formed by the pressing member 31, and an area where the pressure rotor 21 does not sandwich the endless belt 11 is located at the end of the pressing area 41. The rotating speed at which the endless belt 11 is rotated following the pressure rotor 21 at the end of the pressure area 41 is made lower than that in almost all areas other than the pressing area 41. The endless belt 11 obtains from the pressure rotor 21 rotation drive force sufficient for slide friction resistance acting on the pressing member 31 side face of it during the rotation thereof.

At printing a small size sheet, the power supplied to the first heat source is set so as not to exceed an upper limit of usable power as well as larger than the power supplied to the first heat source at printing a large size sheet.
