    • The present invention provides one or more powered wireless transponders and/or one or more passive wireless transponder devices communicating with a reader/interrogator and the method of efficiently inventorying these devices without the risk of eavesdropping. A reader transmits a random number and transponders generate their own random number. The transponders whose random number matches all or a part of the random number responds. If a collision occurs, the reader's random number can be changed and retransmitted until almost one transponder response is verified in a tree search algorithm. Specifically, the invention concerns a method for inventorying wireless transponders providing anti-eavesdropping anti-collision.

    • The present invention provides a method and system for establishing a highly mobile, long range secure wireless network with dynamic topologies and near full connectivity with acceptable latency using low cost, low power, compact and lightweight devices. One aspect of the system deals with a highly mobile network with dynamic network topologies and a time varying wireless medium that has neither absolute nor readily observable boundaries outside of which radio nodes are known to be unable to receive network frames, although the desirable open field boundary is 1 mile in radius from a base station node. A synchronous frequency hopping technique is used with mobile nodes that can become slave base station nodes to a master base station node to increase the effective range of the master base station without increasing the transmit power. Furthermore, the use of adjustable sleep times for the mobile nodes, as well as a novel clock calibration method, provides a substantial range increase with acceptable battery size and system latency.

    • A recording method suitable for high-density recording is provided to increase the reproduction quality. An optical information recording method is for recording information on an optical recording medium by irradiation of a write pulse of a laser beam to perform reproduction in a production system using a PRML detection scheme. The method includes recording a recording mark by a single write pulse, when the total length of the recording mark to be recorded and a space adjacent to the recording mark is less than a diameter of an effective reproduction spot, being 0.82×(λ/NA), where λ is a wavelength of a reproduction laser beam and NA is a numerical aperture.

    • A recording method for irradiating a multi-layered optical recording medium with a laser beam to record information thereon. The optical recording medium can form a first information recording layer that is the farthest from a light incident surface, a second information recording layer that is the second farthest from the light incident surface, and at least one third information recording layer that is located closer to the light incident surface than the second information recording layer is. The method is to record information on the second information recording layer when all the information recording layers other than the second information recording layer are either blank or have been completely recorded. This allows for realizing high-quality information recording in consideration of adherence of foreign matters or occurrence of scratches.

    • A method for producing a metal mask for screen printing is provided, in which dross that is deposited at the time a boring operation is conducted via a laser beam is removed, without causing warpage or bending. The method for producing a metal mask for screen printing includes steps of: forming openings in the metal plate by melting the metal plate at positions irradiated by the laser beam; and ejecting an abrasive onto the other surface of the metal plate after the openings are formed. The abrasive ejected in the abrasive ejection step is one having a predetermined flat shape (plate-shaped abrasive), so as to form a plate shape having a flat surface, or an elastically deformable abrasive, with an average grain diameter of a dispersed or carried abrasive grain being 1 mm to 0.1 μm, and which is ejected at an incident angle of equal to or less than 80 degrees with respect to the other surface of the metal plate, and at an ejection pressure of 0.01 MPa to 0.7 MPa or at an ejection speed of 5 m/sec to 150 m/sec, so as to slide along the other surface of the metal plate.
