    • An electric source circuit for a camera in which the voltage of a power source is automatically applied to the exposure control and display circuit of a camera when the electronic flash is fully charged. A first switch circuit is operatively coupled between a power source and the exposure control and display circuit. A photometric switch for controlling the conduction and non-conduction of the first switching circuit is coupled in parallel with the second switching circuit. The second switching circuit is coupled to detect when the electronic flash mounted on the camera is fully charged. A third switching circuit can be provided for activating an indicating device such as an LED or piezoelectric transducer.

    • A contact state detection apparatus which can accurately detect the pressed state of a contact body such as a probe against an object without damaging the contact body or the object includes a contact body approach section, a probe light source, an imaging device, and a computer unit. The contact body approach section holds a contact body in an inclined attitude with respect to a target contact surface of an object, and displaces the contact body toward the object. The probe light source irradiates light toward the contact body which is being displaced toward the object. The imaging device captures an image of the illuminated contact body and outputs contact body captured image information to the computer unit. The computer unit detects the state of the contact body being pressed against the object based on a change in the contact body captured image information.

    • A microscope including both an atomic force microscope and a near-field optical microscope and capable of performing electrochemical measurements and a cantilever for the microscope are disclosed. A pointed light transmitting material employed as the probe of an atomic force microscope is coated with a metal layer; the metal layer is further coated with an insulating layer; the insulating layer is removed only at the distal end to expose the metal layer; the slightly exposed metal layer is employed as a working electrode; and the probe can be employed not only as the probe of the atomic force microscope and the near-field optical microscope but also as the electrode of an electrochemical microscope. Consequently, the microscope can have the functions of an atomic force microscope, a near-field optical microscope and an electrochemical microscope.

    • An obstacle detection device includes; a primary device that determines the presence or absence of the target object on the basis of a comparison between the transmitted wave and the reception wave; a storage device that, when it is determined that the object is present, acquires a reception power of the reception wave at a control period determined beforehand, and stores the reception power as reception power time series data; a secondary device that determines whether a value relating to a time series change pattern of the data falls within a predetermined range set beforehand on the basis of phase interference, of the reception wave, that depends on a height of the object from a road; and a output device that determines the object to be an obstacle and outputs a result of this determination, when it is determined that the value relating to the pattern falls within the range.
