摘要： Digital data may be copied from a source device, or disc, to a target device, or disc, via an intermediary device, such as a hard drive. If the collective free storage space on all of the hard drive's partitions is sufficient to contain all of the contents of the source disc, a first portion of the content is saved on a plurality of the hard drive's partitions. The contents stored on the hard drive partitions are then written to a target disc and thereafter removed from or overwritten on the hard drive. Other portions of the source disc's contents may be saved to the hard drive in one or more partitions and then written to the target disc. This partial-copying of the source disc's contents may repeat until all of the source disc's files are copied to the target disc.

The across-file-system file access system includes a file resource table generator and a file resource table reader. The file resource table generator creates and up-dates a file resource table, which associates file markers for files stored in a given partition with the physical addresses of the files within the given partition. The file resource table generator is run on top of a first operating system, and the given partition is managed by a file system that uses a file system table. The file resource table reader run on top of a second computer operating system, which cannot access the file system table of the file system. The file resource table reader reads the file resource table to provide access to the files listed in the file resource table.

The face is tracked to determine a video clip associated with one of a plurality of individuals. The video segment is assigned to a group of video clips based on the associated individual. A significant face is detected in the group of video clips when the detected face meets one or more significance criteria. The significance criteria describes a face-frame characteristic. A representation of the significant face is displayed in association with a representation of the group of video clips. The order of the significance criteria is adjusted through a user interface.
