    • The invention relates to a heating apparatus for a glass-sheet bending station. The apparatus includes an array of elongated heating elements, the heating elements being positioned side by side, so as to form a heating element field covering an area of a glass sheet to be bent. A control mechanism is provided for switching heating elements on and off. The heating elements are separately and independently controllable. The heating elements are positioned in succeeding heating element fields in a longitudinal direction of the heating elements. The control mechanism selectively switches on heating elements so as to form at least one heat exchange area that generally covers the area of the glass sheet being bent and that extends at a desired angle relative to the longitudinal direction of the heating elements.

    • A ceramic laminate, which is obtained by stacking ceramic green sheets provided with conductor films distributed on central portions along surface directions thereof, is charged in a die assembly. The die assembly includes an upper punch for pressing a first major surface of the ceramic laminate, a frame which encloses peripheries of the upper punch and the ceramic laminate, and a base plate for pressing a second major surface of the ceramic laminate in a manner opposite to the upper punch. In order to prevent the conductor films from undergoing misregistration toward peripheral edge portions of the ceramic laminate due to flowing of ceramic caused by a pressure difference between the portions provided with the conductor films and those not provided with conductor films, the upper punch is divided into an outer peripheral portion which comes into contact with the peripheral edge portions of the ceramic laminate and a body portion which comes into contact with its central portion. In a step of exerting pressure, the outer peripheral portion compresses the laminate to a higher degree than the body portion, so that a substantially homogeneous pressure is applied to the overall laminate.

    • The present invention is directed to a brazing material for joining graphite structures that can be used at temperatures up to about 2800.degree. C. The brazing material formed of a paste-like composition of hafnium carbide and uranium oxide with a thermosetting resin. The uranium oxide is converted to uranium dicarbide during the brazing operation and then the hafnium carbide and uranium dicarbide form a liquid phase at a temperature about 2600.degree. C. with the uranium diffusing and vaporizing from the joint area as the temperature is increased to about 2800.degree. C. so as to provide a brazed joint consisting essentially of hafnium carbide. This brazing temperature for hafnium carbide is considerably less than the eutectic temperature of hafnium carbide of about 3150.degree. C. The brazing composition also incorporates the thermosetting resin so that during the brazing operation the graphite structures may be temporarily bonded together by thermosetting the resin so that machining of the structures to final dimensions may be completed prior to the completion of the brazing operation. The resulting brazed joint is chemically and thermally compatible with the graphite structures joined thereby and also provides a joint of sufficient integrity so as to at least correspond with the strength and other properties of the graphite.

    • A ceramic transfer picture with a water-absorbing separable paper carrier is provided with a screening layer on its surface opposite the image layer. Said screening layer leaves uncovered only the image areas to be moistened; further, a compensating layer of polyglycol or polyethylglycol wax is provided at or in the image layer as well as an organic intermediate layer between the paper carrier and the image layer controlling the plasiticization of the image layer. In order to achieve a fast separation of the images from the paper carrier, steam is raised during the transfer of the decalcamia pictures. Owing to the nonabsorbent screening layer, the paper carrier is strong so that material in rolls may be used in a mechanical transfer. The applicator-apparatus for it has accordingly a transport device with a delivery spool for the lamellar decalcamania picture material and a batching roller for the separated paper carrier, driving, guiding and tension rollers as well as a movable, heatable pressing agent for the objects to be decorated, such as a stamping device, opposite a holder, e.g. a turning table.
