    • An arrangement to conduct electrical power from a non-hazardous area through plural electrical conductors to the electrical conductor of a power cable which extend through a sealed barrier in a wellhead in a hazardous area including a rigid conduit with a power source electrical conductor therein extending into the hazardous area from an adjacent non-hazardous area for conducting electrical power to a downhole electrical conductor in the hazardous area, said rigid conduit including a seal fitting, splice fitting connected with said seal fitting and positioned adjacent the wellhead for receiving the ends of the power source electrical conductor and the ends of the downhole electrical conductor extend through the sealed barrier in the wellhead for splicing them together. The seal fitting includes a seal within 18 inches downstream of the splice fitting and also includes a breather for discharge of fluid and for inhibiting an internal explosion, flame or fire within the arrangement from exiting into the hazardous area.

    • An electronic power distributor is provided. The distributor is a cylindrical base unit shaped like a hockey puck which contains a top surface, bottom and side circular surfaces. In the top surface, there are a number of holes which extend into the base unit. These holes have a threaded portion for engaging with a power bolt. The side circular surface contains a number of holes which extend into the base unit and are positioned to perpendicularly intersect the holes which extend from the top surface. The holes on the side are capable of receiving the strands of a wire conductor or an adapter of other size conductors. The power bolts which hold the wire conductors in the holes through the side circular surface contain three portions. The first portion is conical and contain a first annular beveled surface extending radially and axially generally toward the vertex. The second portion contains a second annular beveled surface adjacent the threaded portion and extending radially and axially toward the vertex, a third portion having an annular beveled surface between the first and the second annular surfaces extending radially and axially toward the vetex. The angle of the first annular portion is about the same angle as the angle of the second annular portion but the third annular surface is angled greater than that of the first and second. In this design, the conic portion bores through the strands of wire at an equal force to cause the stands to separate and spread along the annular beveled surfaces of the screw. The power puck contains a clear encasing to protect it from the outside environment.

    • An electrical connector includes a socket adapted to receive an end of an electrical conductor (32). The socket comprises an open channel member (14) into which the end of the conductor (32) may be laid, a cover member (22) which together with the open channel member (14) surrounds the end of the conductor (32), and a sleeve member (26) fitting, in use, around the open channel member (14) and the cover member (22). The cover member (22) and the sleeve member (26) have corresponding apertures (24,28) which together constitute a threaded bore through which extends a locking screw (29) for releasably securing the end of the electrical conductor (32) to the open channel member (14).

    • An improved solderless electrical terminal connector includes a plurality of serrations or notches formed on its lower surface for improving the electrical and thermal contact between the connector and the surface onto which it is mounted. The wire receiving portion of the connector includes a set screw for holding the wire securely in place in a body member. The cross-sectional area of the body member in the direction of the wire is reduced so that it is less than the diameter of the set screw thereby to improve pullout characteristics. The opening for the wire in the body member extends into a tang to form a stop to provide for ease of installation of the wire. This placement of the wire will also reduce electrical resistance. In an alternate embodiment, a spiral groove may be formed in the wire receiving opening to cut into the wire as it is clamped in place both to improve pullout characteristics and to lower the electrical resistance between the wire and the connector.
